| Description | The group states that the purpose of this meeting is to declare that their position is "legally and morally right"; to unveil the Council's "permanent program for victory"; and to help the public recognize "the enemy and the enemy's goals." Several recent events are discussed, including the attack on the Freedom Riders in Montgomery on May 20. Speakers are Don Hallmark; Earl James, mayor of Montgomery; Dr. Henry Lyon, minister at Highland Avenue Baptist Church; and Carl Herbert Lancaster, chairman of the Council. In his pitch to potential new members, Lancaster reads the Citizens Council Creed: "Believing in racial segregation and States Rights, as established in the Bill of Rights; having undertaken to help defend by lawful and peaceful means, our people and our land against integration, communism and all other forces which would destroy our God-fearing Nation, and pledging to uphold the Constitutions of the United States and the state of Alabama."
