| Description | Von Braun was the director of the Marshall Space Flight Center from 1960 to 1970, when he moved to Washington, D.C., to serve as Deputy Associate Administrator for Planning at NASA. The newspaper printed this issue to celebrate the "von Braun era" (page 4): "Dr. von Braun will be remembered as 'the father of modern Huntsville.' These pages trace the history and milestones of the von Braun era, the United States' first small steps of a giant leap into space, a step masterminded and directed by Wernher von Braun." |
