Lanett War Service Collection

The Lanett War Service Station Collection includes a sample of the photographs available at Cobb Memorial Archives. Opened in June 1918, the Lanett War Service Station provided information, coordinated war-related activities, and mailed letters and bulletins to soldiers. In addition to the station in Lanett, the West Point Manufacturing Company operated a war service station in its other textile mill villages in Chambers County – Shawmut, Langdale, Fairfax, and Riverview. Each station was managed by a secretary and her assistants.
