The constitutional convention of 1865 met from September 12 to 30 to restore Alabama to the Union. These records consist of ordinances and resolutions passed during the gathering.
In the journal Blount discusses the landscape; encounters with Cherokee Indians in the area; and problems the surveyors faced during their work. He also includes a list of Cherokee words with their Creek and English equivalents.
The order deals with the cessation of hostilities at the end of the Civil War: "...the officers and men of this army are to bind themselves not to take up arms against the United States untill [sic] properly released from that obligation and shall...
