The house was built in 1827 and was later the Confederate hospital. "Now [circa 1930s] the home of Mrs. T.[?] A. Washburn, Riverside Drive, Eufaula, Ala."
Kolb was the first Alabama Commissioner of Agriculture. The house was built in the 1840s; the third story burned, and the home was rebuilt in the 1860s.
The building is made of brick and overlaid with white cement. It was constructed in May 1852 and was the first courthouse in Barbour County. It cost $9,695 and was built with slave labor.
