Additional information submitted by Robert Yuill in an email dated 28 August 2011, which read as follows (line spacing indicated by slashes): "Regarding the collection "Photograph album of mining in the vicinity of Birmingham, ALA" file Q17319. / The photograph title 'Irondale Mines" is a view of the Ruffner #1 mine iron ore , which was also referred to as the Irondale Mines, dates from 1886 to perhaps 1889. I have researched the iron ore mining on this portion of Red Mountain and know this place very well. The mine opened in 1886 and based on what I see in this photo the mining of the site was not developed much. Eventually there were two more additional inclines to access the ore of the Irondale seam, the inclines on the photo are for the Big Seam. Also, note that there are no drifts driven into the outcrop in the ravine. All the ore was removed from the outcrop on the ridge first. / I would like to acquire a copy of this image, hi res file if possible, to include in my self-published manuscript. / Please advise cost and citation requirements for use of this wonderful image. / Robert Yuill"
